All you need to encourage wildlife into your garden this spring

It's now more important than ever to help bring local wildlife into our gardens as small animals like hedgehogs and some well known birds are on the decrease, so encourage them to make your garden their home this spring, by making it as interesting as possible for them.

Not only is this fantastic for the animals, it will also add interest and diversity to your garden and is a great way for children to learn about nature.

Whether your outdoor space is a small patio or large garden, there's lots you can do to encourage the wildlife in, and early spring is a great time to do it.

Feed the birds
In early spring, birds will be looking for nesting places, so now’s the time to pop up a bird box or two on trees or walls around your garden. Pop up a feeder or two in different places that are visible from your windows, so you can do a little bit of bird-spotting from indoors. Just make sure whatever you put up is out of reach of local cats and dogs.

It's a bug's life!
Creepy crawlies may not be your cup of tea, but they are incredibly important to biodiversity and everyone's going mad for bugs and bees! Bug Hotels and Bee Hotels are a great way to help to sustain our insect population, and early spring is a very good time to install them as all those little critters emerge from their winter hiding places to find new homes for the coming year.

Bats and Hogs
There are so many different sorts of animals coming in and out of your garden at different times of the year and of the day/night, and you'll be surprised at what you can spot.

But many of these little animals, such as bats and hedgehogs are in grave danger of dying out as our environment gets more and more hostile, so we need to help them survive.

Notcutts Garden Centre sells all sorts of interesting and different havens and feeders to help with biodiversity in our back yards, including bat boxes and hedgehog houses. All made of hardwearing materials, these animal houses have been designed specifically to provide a safe shelter all year round for each particular guest.

As well as all the hardware and houses, Notcutts also sells different types of feeds for birds and hedgehogs, including wet and dry options, so you can keep your garden visitors healthy and well fed all year round.
